PORTRAIT: POWDER BLUE TRANS AM

Why the title?  I'm just naming things based on the songs stuck in my head at the time.  And Powder Blue Trans Am (by Amy Correia) was running through my head while I painted this one.

Doesn't she look like she'd have one and drive it all around town?

Painted the blobs of color from a stencil (created by Mary Beth Shaw) first.  Then drew and painted, leaving part of the round blobs showing.

  1. Bravo Rhonda! You really nailed the expression on this one. This is the first portrait I've seen in which you emphasized the subject's feelings. Keep going and don't let those brushes dry out! Build on this one.
    Congratulations, Rhonda.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  2. Thanks, Gary. I'm glad you like it - but didn't I emphasize the feelings in the painting The Stars Have Lost Their Glitter? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts because maybe it will help me get closer to being more expressive with my portraits.

  4. Hello Again, Rhonda,
Unfortunately, I can't comment on that painting as I am unable to see it and have no idea why.
This problem occurs at several blogs I follow and no one seems to have a clue why.
Harry Kent's latest work about his Menieres problem isn't visible, for example,as well as, other works of yours.
I'll have to take your word for it and hope Google or our computer can solve this curious problem.
Hope you got the email I sent.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  5. Thanks, Vicki. It's funny, the response to this one. I find it just a painting of a pretty girl - nothing too deep about it. But, apparently, others are finding more there than what I thought about while painting it - maybe it was the song!

Gary, I've found when that happens, you need to update your java and you can do that by going to java.com and finding the latest download. I didn't get an email - maybe your computer has gremlins?

  10. Thanks, Pam and Celeste. Celeste, I never thought of that but it could work. I thought more of flowers since she's a girly girl, don't you know (wouldn't any girl with a powder blue Trans Am be a girly girl...but with the need for speed! ha ha)
