And I don't even need hot weather - just something in the low 70Fs and some good sunshine for a few days!RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-55984201187853246662014-04-17T11:42:58.063-04:002014-04-17T11:42:58.063-04:00Couldn't see the red moon due to cloud cover. ...Couldn't see the red moon due to cloud cover. Soon we will have a true spring - or go right into summer (which is usually the case).

Laura, I was awake at 2 am and saw nothing :( Disappointed, but we'll have 4 this year so maybe next time. Yep, snow. Strange, indeed. All gone now and our birds, including the mallard and his lady friend of the season, have returned for feeding and chirping. The mallard comes every spring to our above-ground pool which has water on the top of the cover no matter how tight we pull it across the top - he brings a lady friend. Not sure if she's the same every spring or another one but he watches her carefully when I toss out bread and put our bird seed for her - he's very protective :) They have their own little romantic retreat here at the Carpenter's back yard :)RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-59315506323609784972014-04-16T19:36:19.144-04:002014-04-16T19:36:19.144-04:00I did, miraculously, wake up at 3:30 a.m., so I we...I did, miraculously, wake up at 3:30 a.m., so I went outside, but it was too cloudy to see anything!
This morning when I woke up I had to do a double-take: my deck and all the furniture thereupon that I just dragged out of the shed this weekend was covered in icy snow.
Wonder what the poor birds make of this weather?laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11999450626008299190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-67240026200801886022014-04-16T14:46:45.696-04:002014-04-16T14:46:45.696-04:00Good Morning Rhonda,

At least, I hope so, for your sake.
When we lived in Tennessee, they referred to such weather as "Dogwood Spring". We experienced one or two and seriously did not appreciate them.
Hang in there, Rhonda.
Sincerely,
Gary.Gary L. We are second in highest snowfall for the winter with a blizzard year being number one here. I worried about all the gorgeous blooming things and how they'd fare with the cold snap. I hope you get a big prize for beating the record! ha ha Perhaps a new car for everyone :)RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-25697073041697790182014-04-16T09:42:49.032-04:002014-04-16T09:42:49.032-04:00No, we had the same clouds, rain, and snow here in...No, we had the same clouds, rain, and snow here in Michigan. However we DID wake up to the news that we beat the all time record for Detroit area snowfall this winter season. Hooray! Now I'm waiting to find out what we get for having won that honor. No one seems to be saying.

All my hyacinths managed to get into full bloom the day before the snow, now they are lying flat, with some of it still there.
