As you said, the photo never quite matches the painting (sometimes better, sometimes you just can't get one color right on the photo that shows in the painting). I still haven't gotten back to this yet.RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-50794773789530918432010-11-07T07:31:51.634-05:002010-11-07T07:31:51.634-05:00Looking good. I am trying to retain whites, thinking that's what makes watercolor watercolor - that, and washes of color that don't become overworked and muddy. If you saw the first one in person, you'd see there aren't many whites but a pale violet on what looks like whites - and additional ink lines.

Thanks, Irina!

Nick, I'm a 2/3 woman from now on!!! (I hope.)

Thanks, Bill :) But I was trying for loose! ha ha I know what you mean, though, and appreciate your comment.RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-12277199566467526402010-11-05T03:19:32.198-04:002010-11-05T03:19:32.198-04:00Nice use of your greens RH. I put my thumb over the white flower on the monitor and noticed how truly spectacular the middle flower looks without all that overpowering white next to it. Robert Gamblin was a guest critique member at one of my groups when he told me watercolorists sometimes are so worried about reserving the white of the paper they don't realize how it robs the harmony of the composition.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13703011558307111361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-27802706696747722942010-11-04T09:11:41.942-04:002010-11-04T09:11:41.942-04:00The background does look more fluid already, love ...The background does look more fluid already, love the hints of light here and there, and it'll make the flowers pop up beautifuly, you're doing great!Teresa Palomar Loishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02923138524590902050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-70253429336888764482010-11-04T08:34:46.048-04:002010-11-04T08:34:46.048-04:00I think it will too! I so admire your willingness and drive to re-do paintings right away. I tend to not want to start all over again once the excitement of doing it the first time has been squelched by unsatisfactory (to me) results.Watercolors by Susan Roperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15091873961431846148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-69854922303347272202010-11-04T06:39:26.348-04:002010-11-04T06:39:26.348-04:00Yes, you have a way with flowers, I can't wait...Yes, you have a way with flowers, I can't wait to see the next step.jgrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02595976689687828149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-68933032702571783792010-11-03T18:59:01.057-04:002010-11-03T18:59:01.057-04:00Looking good!Looking good!Vicki Greenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08270035257336054899noreply@blogger.com
