I try to get in on the sales of paper every time I can.

Deb, you really got a lot of great new stuff!!

Jeanette, I usually stick with the tried and true now, but every once in a while I do something on impulse and usually it's a mistake. The Potter's Pink is not that pretty and not that pink - a kind of greyed, warm, granulating color - the pigment information says:
Chrome Tin Pink Sphene PR 233RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-78031205048220322552015-06-22T04:41:56.684-04:002015-06-22T04:41:56.684-04:00There's nothing like a tube of paint to inspir...There's nothing like a tube of paint to inspire is there? Over the last couple of years however, I have tended to stay with the same palette of colours and don't buy outside that range, just mix what I need.

The potter's pink looks like a cool (temperature)pink tending toward violet. I'll have to look up the pigment information on it and see what's in it. I always love a challenge of mixing a colour using warm or cool primaries.Jeanette Jobsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08935974758134419990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-13678147923848302892015-06-21T17:40:40.238-04:002015-06-21T17:40:40.238-04:00Just got some new brushes - oriental type with squ...Just got some new brushes - oriental type with squirrel hair - the type my friend uses so I know they will work their magic for me too - after all, it's the brush - right??? It's art stuff - what's not to love??? I've seen watercolors in a group all framed the same - with pale wooden frames or black frames - and they look great. Since mine are just in my home or shown in a show once in a while, I don't try to match the frames much.RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-9513640484246886862015-06-19T19:58:40.015-04:002015-06-19T19:58:40.015-04:00I agree, white/off white mats for sure. Gold works really well for my paintings; in fact I've always framed in gold or silver. Boring aren't I?E.M. Sometimes we do just buy on impulse when we see something pretty!! ha ha

Sherry, I have things around my art room (which is small) that I search for at times - seems I have a lot of hiding places (or things are buried under other things). I'm sure you'll find it and use it some day - when the time is right.

Elizabeth, sounds wonderful. I've only framed one watercolor in a gold frame - it was a geisha painted on gold gessoed paper and looked great (or would have, if I'd done a great job on her hands - that was years ago). I tend to go with whatever compliments the painting and adds to the whole thing but always mat in white/off-white colors, either cool or warm. I have a really good framer who does my work, when I want them in shows. Other than that, everything sits in canvas bags or porfolios around the room!

RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-80316918472537245162015-06-19T09:21:40.955-04:002015-06-19T09:21:40.955-04:00Like you, I like to keep new tubes pristine for a ...Like you, I like to keep new tubes pristine for a bit. I'll be curious to see the pink in use. My latest buy? 20 gorgeous 8 by 10 gold frames that were on sale, wide with beading and quite heavy, very "old world" looking, perfect for my birds.E.M.
