Not much granulation in this - just a smooth wash.
Thanks, Ann, Cathy, Barb, Carol and Gillian, for your wonderful supportive comments :)
And thanks, Vicki, for sharing the photo! It does take some patience to do this one, doesn't it?RH Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497161758269292809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7104034804712021440.post-23839483704274088682010-03-23T08:09:06.232-04:002010-03-23T08:09:06.232-04:00I like how you've taken care to put in the lig...I like how you've taken care to put in the lights to the lower right of the bowl, counter-balancing the darks to the left. I think adding those glints of light on the lower right corner of the painting, as well as the even fainter abstract ones, does add a nice touch to this painting. On some of my bowls I did that, one I didn't, and I think it adds some sparkle.

One interesting thing I am seeing, the DS sepia does not granulate as well as some of the others I have seen with both my students and online. Personally, I prefer the softer, granulated look of the AJ sepia, but then am not sure after seeing the precision lines and smoother background of yours.
