2 x HONEY

Selling the painting, A Taste of Honey, from the Honeybee series made me want to do another similar piece to add to the series.  So I have started this one.

This one is also on gold gessoed paper with some stencils of a hive in the background.  It's painted with watercolor and some gouache.  I didn't want to make it exactly like the one I sold so added another little bee.

It's 11 x 15" and I'm calling it

2 x Honey

Thanks, Chris. It makes a difference when people like a painting enough to put their $ on the table and buy something :) I made another sale this week = 2 in one month is rare of me but fun!

Love this series Rhonda. Congrats on your sale... Nothing boosts us like an award or a sale.

so shiny! :D

Jennifer Rose, the shiny is the light hitting the gold gesso. It does shine when light hits it.

I have loved seeing the series all together and the development of the ideas and the path it is taking. Using the gold gouache has made me think of icon paintings and for me has added another layer of meaning....thoughts of the 'value' (all of the meanings/definitions) of both the subject and the painting as object... It has given me lots to think about which is also the value of art. (To me at least). Many thanks.

Thanks for those words, Lisa. I appreciate your view of the series. I hadn't thought about the gold gessoed ones being similar to iconic works but I like the idea :) I agree, art should make you think about things and I hope this Honeybee Series makes people think about losing something that will affect us all in ways we can't even foresee.
