BIG BOY

Noticed this large box turtle walking in the neighbor's yard about a month ago.  Sweetie decided to "rescue" him.  He was probably someone's pet that was released.  We set up a nice space for him.

He likes boiled eggs and loves strawberries.

Since the weather is getting colder at night, we will release him into the woods and let him find a nice place to dig a hole and winter in before freezing temps set in = better for him than staying here in the cold and trying to keep him warm and healthy throughout winter.

What a wonderful capture of him eating strawberries. Made me smile. Hope he finds a warm place to dig for the winter. Take care and have a great weekend. Hugs

turtles are great but more work then people think so yeah they tend to get abandoned when not wanted :/ is he really tame?

Thanks, Debbie, Elizabeth and Jennifer Rose. We had rain last night and now colder temps so it was a good time to release him. Sweetie took him into the woods on our neighbor's property. He wouldn't eat worms (we've had turtles who would gobble up worms like candy) but did like his strawberries :). Yes, Jennifer Rose, he was tame = never went into his shell and stayed there even from the beginning but out looking around and watching us so seems like he was very used to people. I hope he digs in and stays safe through winter - we may see him again in the spring :)
