HMMMM...

Well, this is pretty.
This is okay.
But this is not what I wanted.

Perhaps I'm not doing enough thinking prior to putting that paint on the paper.  And I'm mixing too many color inside the palette instead of on the paper.

So...time for a do over.

Stay tuned.

(This is a half sheet = 15 x 22 inches).

I do not know what you wanted but this is beautiful.

Dear Rhonda I think it is lovely but we are at times our own worst critic. Like you mentioned about the planning part...I find this a real downfall for myself. Too much a "fly by the seat of your pants" type which leads to fewer successes. Anyway I enjoyed this piece Rhonda. Hugs!

def very pretty and lovely colours but if you are not happy with it , a do over wont hurt and the next one might be even more lovely to look at :)

Thanks so much, Asit, Debbie and Jennifer Rose. I am getting more used to it - but another on the painting table is trying to come together but...we'll see!

'Hmmm' - sometimes ... just a little thing makes all the difference.

Consider ... the colors of the flower petals are gorgeous.

Staying with the concept of 'playing' with this composition ... what if ... the background colors are draining the life out of this picture. What I'm seeing for the background is some combination of tints of Naples Yellow, Lemon Yellow and Gambogee.

That way the blues and purples of the petals will pop and sparkle. And the reds ... because they lean towards blue ... will also pop and sparkle.

And I'll keep it between you and me ... how many paintings I have done ... and the disappointment was astounding ... until I just tweaked them ... just a little.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment, Elizabeth. You may have a good idea for the background to not be too blah...but putting down that Shadow Violet ahead of time means yellows of any kind would just give me brown mud at this point - but it's a thought to carry on for next time and I appreciate it.
