ACRYLIC INK PLAY

TerraSkin "paper" that is coated in acrylic gloss medium, allowed to dry and then dripped on acrylic inks from the bottle.

On this one, I also drizzled string gel (acrylic) in the shape of the geode before dropping in the color.  It is not easy to get a good value shift from dark to light because the inks want to bleed together.

The paper is cut down to 5 x 7 inches.

Geode: Golden

Wow Rhonda this really jumps off the page. Are you liking the TerraSkin paper? Looks like you are being quite successful using it.

Hi Rhonda,
Most interesting and I love the colors. Must be fun working in a "laboratory" doubling as a studio. Being stuck in a rut with oils, it's always fun and educational seeing what brave artists like you are experimenting with.
Keep up the great posts and ENJOY!
Sincerely,
Gary.

Striking piece, Rhonda.

I love this Rhonda. I did a series of rock paintings on Yupo, very similar surface. I am a huge lover of rocks having spent many years collecting when I was younger. They live in every room of my house. Beautiful painting!

Thanks, Jennifer Rose. I only have found it online for sale but know the artist Taylor Ikin promoted it years ago in her work - she also uses yupo a lot.

Thanks, Debbie. I like it but wish you could buy it in just a few sheets - had to buy a lot and it will probably last me forever! I like it more than yupo in that it has a bit of a tooth and isn't quite as slick but...the acrylic inks work better on yupo on that slick surface.

Gary, thanks, but I don't think I'm brave at all - just easily bored! ha ha

Thanks, Alice Jo and Elizabeth :) I tend to get bored and want to play with something new once in a while - then return to my watercolor on paper (which will always be what I love the best). Elizabeth, have you shown your rock paintings on yupo on your blog? I'll have to do a search and see.

I can't recall if I have but will make it a point to do so in the very near future!
