THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER

Some things that may become collage pieces...or not...

Acrylic paint, fluid acrylics, oil pastels, etc., on fairly thin paper (Strathmore Windpower Drawing paper, 80#)

This one reminds me of
Looking in Other People's Windows.

And this one says to me,

Don't Fence Me In.

This one is fluid acrylics and other things (oil pastel, watercolor crayon and pencils, white gesso, etc.) on fourth sheet (11 x 15 inches) Arches 140# hot press paper.

Thinking about

The Circle of Samsara

which is what Buddhists call this life and all our patterns we escalate or de-escalate.

And this is just a journal entry, trying hard to go with the flow - now isn't that a typical human response to relaxing???  Instead of going, letting go, releasing and relaxing, we have to TRY HARD to do it right! ha ha

Gessoed partially over a prior entry in the sketchbook/journal - then used watercolor ink, fluid acrylics, white gesso and gouache and opaque watercolors to get to this.

On the last post I was last,
maybe I'm first on this one :D
I love them all, the first two
because of the colours, the last
two because of the colour blue :)
I like them in this order:
3, 4, 2, 1

No. 3 really has something to me :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Rhonda,
I really like "Don't Fence Me In" and "Circle of Samsara". They both look like something I cannot identify, but keep trying to. Crazy, I know. The "Circle" adds the intrigue of life; what comes after, along with what looks vaguely like rings in a pool of water. I could look at that one for a very long time and always see something different depending on my mood. Great colors, too, but it's the cerebral aspect I find most appealing in these two works.
I'd get 'em framed and enter them in whatever important competition is on your horizon!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Gary

I am glad The Circle of Samsara is resonating with you both, Tinna and Gary - maybe I have something here :) I do like the other two, also, Gary, but they are just on crap paper so I wonder if I should save them or do something else with them...not sure what, though! ha ha

Thanks for the positive comments on these :)

Rhonda, the soul of an artist. You and are I so similar in some ways. I like following your thoughts and how they play out in your art. Mine strangle me in angst and freeze me from working on my passion: art.

Love these Rhonda, especially the circle, maybe because we are in hurricane season now. But the journal entry makes my heart skip a beat. Maybe it's just that freshness that happens in journals; the same feeling that occurs when I paint outside. You are a true inspiration to me.

people have a hard time understanding when I say that letting go, releasing and relaxing in art actually takes a lot of practice lol :)

all very nice, but really like the bright colours in the first 2

Sherry, I'm sorry you cannot let go and just create - whatever comes to you without so much self-criticism = that stuff will definitely stop you from ever doing anything because you can never be good enough (whatever that means!).

Thanks, Elizabeth. I enjoy hearing which ones each person likes the most and why.

Sadami, thanks so much.

Jennifer, yes it is not easy to be free in your art and not have niggling doubts or fears stop you from doing your best stuff.

Dear Rhonda - these pieces are all so wonderful. I think you are doing a great job in going with the flow. Smiled at the Windows and "Don't Fence Me In". The window one made me think about how in the evenings with the lights on you catch a glimpse of life going on inside someone's home. Perhaps there is a voyeur in each of us! (LOL)! Have a great day.

Thanks, Debbie. I thought I was the only one who wanted the car to drive slowly down the dark street so I could see what was going on in the houses in the neighborhood = probably comes from too much reality t.v. which isn't reality at all!

Thanks, Carol :)
