PAINTING ON TERRASKIN "STONE PAPER"

I cut the full sheet in half so this is 19.5 x 28 inches.  Watercolor on TerraSkin.  It's interesting that watercolor, once it's dried on the TerraSkin, won't lift off with water - you have to use alcohol or alcohol wipes to get the paint off.

I got the inspiration for this painting from a bouquet of tulips Sweetie brought me the other day - for no reason :)

I had to put them in two separate vases because this large vase is really a small vase in the middle and you're supposed to put candy, marbles, etc. around the outside for decoration.  So the main opening is so small it won't hold many flowers.

The buds he brought are beginning to open and Sweetie decided to take one outside in the snow (5-6 more inches on the ground from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning) and get a photo.  Good thing he bundled up for it - cold cold cold again and more snow - what a great February and March it's been so far...

After looking at the painting for a while, I decided I didn't like it and it was too heavily painted in the tulips.  So wiped the color down with alcohol wipes - will drop in cleaner color for the main tulips and leave it alone (hopefully!).

Rhonda - Terraskin paper sounds so interesting. Odd how it takes alcohol to wipe it down. Loving your experiments. I know about that snow too - maybe in a short week some of it will go away - We can hope.

It has to be fabulous to be so loved, Rhonda. You are one lucky artist! I love the painting before the wipe off and after. Can't wait to see how you work with it next.

The colors are gorgeous, matching this beautiful sunny morning, at least where I am!

I was surprised that the watercolor wouldn't wipe off, too, Debbie. I guess it has something to do with the surface treatment of the TerraSkin (calcium carbonate)?
Sherry, yes, I am so lucky and happy.
EM, sunshine is trying to warm things up here and melt some of this snow :)

I love reading about your latest and greatest Rhonda, this is just another example of you introducing me to something I haven't ever heard of, so after seeing how vibrant it takes your colour I am going to check it out more, thanks

I like it! The washy feel and the experimental nature of it are cool. You are your own worst critic and I recognize something of myself in that quality!

Thanks so much, Lorraine and Alice Jo. Yes, we never seem satisfied with our own work - always something more we could have done! I wonder if I will ever get over that?
