DOWNWARD FACING CROW BECOMES JEWELED CROW

Well, what else could I call this beautiful crow?  She seems to have stolen the jewels from the neighborhood ladies and used them on her feathers :)

Don't ask me what colors I used, as I just picked up this and that, cool and warm, lots of darks.  She still needs the little shadow shape under her done to ground her and she'll be finished.

What do you think?  Too much?  Not enough?  Does she still look like a crow or does she have too many colors in her wing?

Rhonda she looks perfect to me...I am not into too much realism. Besides when they are outside the sun glistens on their wings and turns them to all colors. I think she is beautiful.

Never too much color (ahem!). It's beautiful, and, as Debbie said, on a sunny day they have so much color. Might you consider adding some more color where the wing meets the body? That transition feels a bit awkward, or just sudden, maybe. Of course, I'm not a bird watcher and have no source in front of me, that may be exactly how they do look!

I think it is fabulous and I love the whimsy of the colors in her wings. Couple it with the look on her face and she is perfection!! For some reason, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat came to mind, and that made me smile!

The colours are wonderful, not too much at all.... this is what painting is about. Moving from what we see to how we might like to see it, I love it!!

I love her face, Rhonda, and the way the her head unites with the blue from the background.
The multicolored wing strikes me as pure inspiration!

Thank you so much, Debbie, Maggie, Sadami, Sherry, Judith and Laura :)

Katherine, I'm unsure about that wing meeting the body at the top - is that what you mean? Could be I could soften it a bit or darken the top of the wing but we'll leave it a few days and see if I like it as is or not. Corvids do have a definite wing distinction in the bluejays but probably not in crows because all you see is the dark color all over. Thanks for commenting and giving me your opinion - which I highly value.
