FLAMINGO

Working a bit more on the flamingo painting.  Putting in the eye will really bring it to life, I think.  But isn't that such a pretty color?  Just Permanent Alizarin Crimson with a touch of Scarlet Lake to warm it in places.

A bit more to do.  I don't want to have the light and dark feathers so different in value so might lift a little from the neck and also touch a bit more color on the body feathers towards the right bottom side of the painting.

It really is a pretty color--especially against that green! I had forgotten how pure a pink alizarin can make (I usually go straight to opera!). And I don't have crimson lake (have never really decided on/settled on a warm red), but it works great with the alizarin.

I was never a pink girl until later in life and now I like the color and wear it - I don't use opera because it's a fugitive color, but changed my original Quinacridone Coral (warm) for the Scarlet Lake/Organic Vermillion (warm) last year.

This is looking awesome so far, Rhonda. I love how you think too. I too like the pink against the green. I was trying to imagine my colors here and it seems my scarlet lake has an orange-y tone, compared to the pink of alizarin crimson. You must be using the perfect touch to keep this such a beautiful deep pink tone.

Sherry, thanks! I am just touching in a bit of the Scarlet Lake (Holbein) to the Alizarin Crimson (Daniel Smith) to warm it up a bit - you can see the difference around the eye where it's warmer there. Hope you're doing well today!
