WHILE WE WERE ON ANNA MARIA ISLAND...

I was glad I took my little Holbein watercolor travel kit because I painted a few days while we were gone.  I usually would paint something in the morning that I'd picked up - or that had inspired me - the day before.  This is in my brand new Stillman & Birn watercolor sketchbook (such lovely watercolor paper in the Beta Series - a lovely, smooth feeling when painting on it).

Sweetie gave me a birthday card with these two lovey birds on it (a photo he took when we were on Anna Maria Island (AMI) in December - so this was my first reference and inspiration.

Here is the finished painting with one of my travel brushes and a little piece of fake sea glass on the paper.

Aren't they sweet?

Then we drove up to Sarasota to see the John and Mable Ringling estate, art museum and circus museum.

Rhonda - lovely parrots...your sketchbook looks delightful...I have been seeing a lot of artists using this brand - need to see about purchasing one. Caught up on your other post of the shadow color and your Sandpiper (so lovely). Hope you have a wonderful week-end.

Happy birthday wishes, if a little late. You sound like you had a lovely time and lovely presents. A really nice collection of birds, like the simplicity of the Sandpiper painting, beautiful.
With all your snow a great time to sit and paint. Enjoy your weekend and keep warm. 65894542 1616

I do not know why, but I think this is one of your best, Rhonda. I just love it (and partially because it has my favorite color combo). Beautiful!

Thanks so much, Maggie, Lorraine, Debbie and Bruce :)
Deb, Sweetie said he and his brother were there 50 years ago. He asked the lady at the front desk if anything had changed in that time and she looked at him like it was crazy! ha ha
Thanks, Milly. Not sure why your numbers (the "prove you're not a computer" numbers, I think) showed up but they don't mean anything and I couldn't delete them. Another Blogger mystery!

Thanks, Sherry. Not my favorite colors at all but glad you like these little birdies. We watched them groom each other - or maybe he was grooming her - for quite a while on the wires by a huge tree. There were 6 of them.

Thanks, Carol. It was pretty amazing to look up and see little parrots! Not something you'd ever see here in KY unless you were hallucinating!
