TUFTED TITMOUSE WITHOUT DRAWING

Another little one done without drawing on Lanaquarelle 140# cold press watercolor paper, 6" x 8"

I actually like the larger one better this time - perhaps it's because there is more warmth in the larger version.

I am loving your birds--most of these show up at my heated bird bath. I spend a lot of time at my kitchen sink--not working--bird watching.

You got him perfectly, Rhonda! One of my favorites.

Thanks, Hallie. We have a heated birdbath, too, and that's probably why we have so many birds - they do seem to flock around whenever there is a spate of snow flurries. And yesterday, we had a sharp-shinned hawk in the tree behind our pool, waiting and watching for over 3 hours! The squirrels got to the point, they just ignored it, even climbing into the tree close to it! The birds came to the feeders but were pretty skittish and didn't hang around long.
Thanks, Laura. I like these little ones, too!

I'm really impressed with how you do this, painting the birds right off with the brushes, without the help of any graphite underneath. I think it has an expressiveness that it would not have otherwise... Very nicely painted!

Hi, Rhonda, I did not know your bird bath is warm (what a good idea!). The work is lovely. Just keep on. Best wishes, Sadami

I have to agree with Hallie; love the bird series you've been doing, Rhonda!

Rhonda - your birds are so sweet. I am always amazed that you paint them without drawing and you do it so well. Have a great day.

Thanks so much, Katherine, Sadami, Sherry and Debbie. I am trying for a looseness - a less contrived shape - by not doing the drawing. Although I can't say I'd stay with this technique, it is fun playing and seeing what I can (and cannot) do with just the brush and paint.
