HOW LONG DOES A COLD LAST?

How long does a cold last?
A week to 10 days, whether you treat it, or not.  Of course, if you don't treat it, you may end up with the flu or pneumonia - so do treat it.

I recommend lots of nice green tea in various flavors, adding a large dollop of sweet honey - and a shot of bourbon doesn't hurt at all!

I felt bad going to drawing class Wednesday because I didn't want to pass on my cold to everyone.  I was careful to cough into my tissues and wash my hands a lot and have a hot drink with me so I wasn't coughing much.  I didn't share paper or pencil or anything - except when Natasha graciously agreed to let me watch her drawing a subject from my sitting point so I could figure out what she was doing.  I hope she doesn't get my cold.

Now - time for a hot toddy and off to bed...See you when I'm better...

Do you know that every time I click on my blog roll to visit you, I sing "Help me Rhonda" in my head.

It's not just the song, but the fact that when I come here you usually have something interesting for me to learn about. Today you have a cold. yuck. I hope you are enjoying your hot toddy and anything else that makes you feel better.

Gee Rhonda, I sure hope you feel better soon. Old Wives Tale has it that a cold is 7 days coming, 7 days staying, and 7 days going. Sounds like an awfully long time. I hope you are right with your estimation. Take care.

You better hope you didn't give it to me, or else - grrrrrr! So far, so good. Take care of yourself - try zinc lozenges, too.

The other important rule is feed a cold and starve a fever . . . UNLESS you have a fever.

Hope you feel better fast! At least those of us reading your blog can feel safe.

Hi Rhonda,
Hang in there. This, too, shall pass.
Sincerely,
Gary.

Thanks, Carol, Sherry, Sadami, Carol B. (21 days???! I like my version better - the EPA says a cold is not contagious after 1 week so I'm good to go as soon as I feel like doing anything but sleeping, take meds, watching t.v. and reading, and sleeping).
Thanks, Kathryn, Caroline, and Gary - yep, just a stupid cold but it makes me feel so rotten and useless. I know a big Navy guy like you, Gary, would just sweat it out on a 10 mile run and get over it - put I'm just a girl :( ha ha
Deb, you get it within 2-3 days after exposure so if you don't have it yet, you won't get it from me - but it's going around so I expect to see a lot more people with colds in the coming cold days. From what I've read, nothing gets you over a cold except time - all the cold meds just dull the pain or alleviate the symptoms...time for more bourbon!

Thanks, Joyce and Debbie, I'm on the mend - even had a Pilates session today (although she was very easy on me!).
