HAWAIIAN BREAKFAST NO. 2

I was really happy with the papaya painting I sent to my friend, Gary, in Hawaii (or I wouldn't have sent it to him!).  So I thought I might look at the the photos he sent of his papaya breakfast and paint one for myself.  This is where I am.  Not finished, of course.  I am not sure what I was trying for the table - it's a glass table and I think I should have ignored that.

I used Prussian Blue for the bowl this time - I like that color.  So this will be Hawaiian Breakfast No. 2 :)  There is just something luscious and very enjoyable about painting that papaya!!

Aloha!

I know you will think this sacriligious, Rhonda, but I don't lean toward blue colors most of the time; just doesn't do for me what it does for you. But, I LOVE Prussian blue! That color does speak to me. This is lovely, love the reflections in the plate and this is just a lovely painting.

Oh, Rhonda, love this contrast and again, again this bluish skin of papaya... I know it's plate, but just my vision wants it in this way...nostalgic too...

I like the glassy tabletop, it adds subtle interest without taking anything away from that papaya. You are making me think I'm going to have to rethink papayas.

Hi Rhonda,
Very nice, again! I feel certain this will be another winner in your collection.
A papaya for breakfast is like having a bowl of sunshine on the table and you're doing a great job of capturing that look.
Sincerely,
Gary.

LOL, Susan!! You can still be my friend, even if you don't like blues!! Living in the desert southwest, I imagine you are thrilled with golds and reds and all those warm rich colors :)

Kevin, thanks!

Thanks so much, humbird and Barbra Joan (my orange period, maybe??), Katherine, Gary and Sherry :) I'm not hating the table top as much as I did when I first put the paint down and think I may just leave it like that - hinting but not telling the whole story word for word??

Your papaya is a beauty, Rhonda! The blues against the oranges are so striking.

Thanks so much, Carol and Kathryn. I don't know how much of an expert I am but remember an artist saying you had to know a subject really well before you could paint it well. At some time, I'm going to have to taste a papaya! ha ha I could, of course, paint cantalope, as I know what those taste like and they have the same beautiful warm, golden orange coloring on the inside :)
