SLOW AS A...

Still working wet-in-wet with background in first.
Then playing with bright, pure colors to make the painting glow and pop.

Mostly Daniel Smith Shadow Violet in the background with touches of Indanthrone Blue + Cobalt Teal Blue.

The photo was taken by Sweetie when we visited Belize a few year's ago.

Good Morning Rhonda,
Two for two. Whatever you're doing...keep on doing it. To my eyes and in my always humble opinion, this, and the iris are some of the best, most fluid work I've seen you do.
They are really so good and look so much like what I think watercolors should look like.
Great stuff, Rhonda! Really.
Sincerely,
Gary.

Thanks, Renate. I won't do more - its done :) Trying to keep the wet, watercolor look of things now.

Gary, thanks so much! I'm glad I'm hearing that my goals are being reached. These are small paintings - just 1/4 sheet. So maybe a couple more and then move to 1/2 sheet paintings in this way. Keeping the water flowing and letting the watercolor do what it likes to do :)

Nicely done, Rhonda!

Thanks, Lorraine and Sherry. I'm trying to keep pure color flowing with lots of water - teaching myself to loosen up, I guess, after years of loving this style but never painting this way. Strange, when you know how to do it, but you just pick up that brush and begin painting on dry paper every time = not how I want to paint. So - getting back on the horse and riding along for a while, hoping it becomes second nature at some time to always prewet the area and then drop in the color, a la Carol Carter :) She is such an inspiration to me.

I thought I commented on this. I am just loving your bright lime green color in this painting and the previous one. You've inspired me to use some bright colors in a painting I'm working on. Thanks!
