CHALLENGES ONLINE

The WetCanvas group had a Weekend Drawing Event Saturday and Sunday and since a friend, Li Newton of San Salvador, Bahamas, was hosting, I had to participate!  She posted several of her great photos from which to choose and I picked 3 - but only did this one of the peacock.  Couldn't resist those blues!  And wanted to make it like stained glass behind it.

Thanks, Li, for the great photo of the peacock in all his wonderful plumage!

And the monthly challenge from the group, PaintMyPhoto, is to paint any landscape in the photo albums using complementary colors.  I chose this photo (by Mrs. Sue Smith) because of the violet and yellow-green already in it.  All I need to do is go back in and add in some darks and define some things a little bit more. I may make the sky a bit more violet, too.

You must have enjoyed painting these pieces, I really like them both! The peacock with his stained glass window must have been a challenge...would have to me I know! Complementary colours work so well, a lovely painting....both are! Mrs A

The peacock looks great but I so love the dreamy softness and the palette in your landscape!

Sorry you are having trouble reading my blog. I did make the letters black if that helps.

I'm glad you all liked seeing my efforts, Kathryn, Debbie, humbird, Mrs. A. and Leslie. Now I really need to be thinking about the upcoming GCWS show (need 2 paintings for that) and the juried Viewpoint Show - what to do? What to paint? That old fear settles in and I sit and think and think some more and should be painting instead :)

Sherry, I'll visit and see if my eyes are better able to read the words - could be time for new glasses!

Your peacock painting has so much vibrant colour and having an abstract feel to it with the use of geometric shapes in the background
