MORE STAGES OF THE POURED PEARS

I had time to do a bit more on the poured pears painting.  Not sure where this is going.  I'm trying to limit it to just the three colors I began the pour with which are Cobalt Blue, New Gamboge and Scarlet Lake.

I did the drawing of the pears after I did the initial pour.  Then, using the same colors, dropped in some more color in the background to darken it (just the Scarlet Lake and Cobalt Blue).

Not sure about those green and gold pears.  I think I may add a bit of a lemony yellow to make them look more real.

I'll let the painting take me where it wants to go and see what happens.  So far the greens and golden yellows work okay against the violet background.

Today is a day of driving to Mom's, taking her to pulmonary rehab and getting her settled, then driving to my allergist for my allergy injection, going back to wait for Mom, then taking her to see my brother (who is the hospital having 2nd stent put in today after having a stent replaced yesterday due to scar tissue building up around the original).  His heart is still only functioning at 35%.

After another day of 87F and putting the air conditioner on last night to cool the house for sleeping, we now have rain and much cooler temperatures.  I am longing for fall - or at least the end of days over 80F.

Have a good weekend.

Rhonda always so interesting when you share your progression. Am intrigued re what you mean by 'pouring'-will back track your blog to read up-

Ideal time of year to depict pears and I like the pallet-indeed a wee bit of lemon yellow against that purple might be fun.

As an aside -in response to my aquarium comment i did not realize that the United States has legally made aquariums accountable ie they must meet specific standards. I'm ashamed to say Canada -at least Ontario-does not. The media has recently uncovered horrible conditions in a well known aquarium -if you google' Marine land' you will see what I mean-kudos to America for looking out for these magnificent and sensitive creatures

Jan, you mix up the pigment with lots of water in a cup and pour that onto the paper instead of brushing it on. It often goes everywhere so keep paper towels handy :) But that's all that pouring is - a thin mix of pigment and water and pour it on from a container. It's best if your container has a lid if you want to save some of the mix for another pour later. And no worries about the comment about the Belugas - I am surprised to hear Canada does not have standards that the U.S. does. We have a Marine Land in Florida, too, that was purchased by the Georgia Aquarium recently.

Hi, Bruce! It's Rhonda, not Helen, but that's okay :) Check back and see what turns up from this one.

Thanks, Carol. A stressful day but now time to sit and relax and maybe watch some tennis (the Mason, OH matches are on and we've been following those since we didn't get tickets this year).

Hello Rhonda, I think the pears are going to be just fine, knowing you:) I'm sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he is doing fine with his new stend.
Have a nice cool weekend!

Love what you are doing with the pears, Rhonda. Sounds like you have a rough day ahead as it is always hard to see our loved ones going through health trials and tribulations.

I have discovered a small squirt bottle (from recent bout of hair dying) is fabulous for a cross between pouring and brushwork. You can guide the paint at least a little bit! Hey! Maybe I have control issues? LOL

Thank you so much, Heather, Renata and Sherry, for your comments today :)

Sherry, I have ordered (from Amazon) condiment bottles - those tall plastic ones with the tip that hold ketchup or such at picnics. I'll let you know how it works out!

Wowza, you had a day! Hope things and family get better! Love seeing your painting stages! Hopefully this is art therapy for you!

Thanks, Pam. Pears don't take much thought most of the time so it is like therapy. So is trying to get handouts and lessons ready for Tuesday's class :)

Rhonda. I’ve tried DS watercolour ground but didn’t like it very much…but maybe that was because I covered a canvas board with it, then began with watercolour…and I’m not fond of painting watercolour over gesso much either. I can’t wait to see what you do with it. This painting is looking very nice….. So sorry to hear about your family and health issues, it’s always a worry when family members become ill. I too need to walk more, eat more healthily etc. Maybe you should begin a daily/weekly health tips blog and motivate us all with walking challenges etc…. some how combine it with art and finding new compositions whilst out walking? Just a thought. I would be there with you in spirit if you do something like this. We all need a shove in a healthier direction from time to time, and it’s not a good idea to wait until we become ill to take the plunge.

Maggie, I have a feeling this will be like painting on gesso, only thinner? I'll let you know how it takes a bit more watercolor when I get to it :) And what a great idea for a walking/sketching blog. I know there are already Urban Sketchers who do that; why not? The weather is not so awfully hot now and my favorite time of year is coming...so...will definitely think about it and how I can incorporate walking and sketching or painting...even if it's just in my neighborhood. Can you tell I'm trying to talk myself into it?? ha ha
