SOME COLOR ADDED

Miss P's drawing just had to have a touch of color to show her red hair!

This is in my Moleskine watercolor journal,
5" w x 7 3/4" h

And I began two bird paintings - no, not crows this time - before going on our trip.  I'm getting around to finishing them up after beginning with the drawing and just the background.

Here is the rosy-breasted grosbeak.

And here is the indigo bunting.

Beautiful color on the redhead. I was one for many years; it faded but I kept my freckles and temper.

Miss P in color is wonderful, Rhonda. I can't wait to show Miss P.

I also like the birds - looking forward to you coloring them also,

It is fun to see the color bring the portrait to life. Do you fix your pencil drawing before applying watercolor? I like the variances in the red hair. Looking forward to seeing your birds take shape too.

I've really been enjoying the pencil sketch, Rhonda. But this is very nice. It's neat how much clarity comes with color. I think you defeated the aging you were noticing in the pencil. In any case it must have taken a lot of courage adding color to that sweet pencil piece--but it sure paid off. Best.

Rhonda, your drawing skills are super wonderful. Wish I had that talent! Practice practice practice comes to mind for me.

Thanks, Hallie - I think a lot of us began as redheads :)

Thanks, Vicki, Christiane and Jane :)

Tina, I don't fix the graphite but just don't get too energetic with the color over it - if it dulls the color a little, that's okay - but it seems to have worked out well in the moleskine journal (one I rarely use).

Bill, fools rush in, as they say! In this instance, I just had to add some color to show that she was a redhead - and that graphite was not going to do it :)

Sherry, thanks so much. Yes, practice makes you better - and I could be a LOT better if I'd practice more :)

Good Morning Rhonda,
Without doubt, I think this is the best person painting you've done.
You should be very proud of this work and do more like it.
Of course, we wouldn't that to mean less crows!
Have a nice Sunday!
Sincerely,
Gary.

Dear Rhonda - love your art - saw your lovely painting on Barb's Creations and stopped by to say how lovely it is. Take care and God Bless.

Very nice and I like moleskins too.
But am currently in the process of making my own sketchbooks. Check out my blog to see how.

I LOVED this darling girl's face and soft hair.
Tell me what pencil you used in the original sketch.

Thanks so much, Gary!!

Debbie, always a pleasure to see you stopping by - I'm afraid I haven't gotten caught up yet from vacation time and little time on the computer for over a week. Will have to stop over and see what you've been doing :)

Thanks, Ginny. I've never made my own sketchbooks - there are so many out there I have to buy! ha ha I just used a 2H graphite to start the sketch, penciling in lightly and a little at a time.
