ROSY-BREASTED

Here is the rosy-breasted grosbeak, finished after some softening of the red into white and the dark into red.

This is a small painting,
7 1/2" w x 11" h
on Arches 140# watercolor paper.

I will put it up on my Small Works blog for sale this week.  So if you are a birder, or just love birds, fly over to the Small Works blog and add it to your collection!

What a cutie! I like the way that you have treated the background with no detail taking away from the bird. What a winner!

Thank you so much, Tina, Sadami and Lisa, for the positive feedback on this one :)

Thanks, Vicki, I do love this little guy - he seems so proud of himself, the way his chest puffs out.

Thanks, Jane and Sherry!

PaUL, thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment - you are one diversified and interesting artist (I stopped by your blog and visited for quite a while to see what you are doing).

I don't think we have these birds in VA--he's bright and perky.

Thanks, Pam, Irina, and Hallie. It's interesting what birds are found in what areas - I was amazed when we first had guests from Utah and they told us they didn't have cardinals!! They are so common here. Of course, we don't have magpies or scrub jays or...wish we all could enjoy all the best birds :)

I never heard of a rosy-breasted grosbeak but this bird is a cutie.

Carol, each state seems to have their own regulars and this is just one that flies through on its way to somewhere else, but it's so pretty!
