MONDAY MORNING PROGRESS

Well, we had a busy weekend!  With the Woman's Art Club meeting on Saturday afternoon and then Sweetie's TriState Photographic Society year-end banquet Saturday evening (where he brought home 2 ribbons), we were busy Saturday.  Then Sunday we went to see the grand-girls play soccer at their indoor arena and got to go out to lunch with them and their Mom and Dad and little brother and other grandmother and a friend.  A very enjoyable weekend!

Now it's time to get back to work.  This painting wants me to get more done.  Here's where she stands right now.  I'm doing a type of glazing to get the body color and shapes - not really dry glazing and layering paint but doing it while still damp and shaping the forms a bit more carefully than I normally do.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm a bit haphazard in my technique and working habits and need to become more professional and work harder and take more time.  At least, that's my thinking for today! Who knows what I'll think tomorrow! ha ha

I like how this one is shaping up. I am liking the bird on the ground in front of the girl.
As for being professional...this definition changes with my mood too. It is stern when I am not getting things done/or not liking the painting and it is relaxed when I like what I am painting and getting into shows. :-)

Hi,Rhonda,
The work is interesting, particularly, the background. Be kind to yourself. Step by step "we" go far.
Cheers,Sadami

Your last couple of lines made me smile, Rhonda. That is how I think too. Love the hydrangeas in your blog banner; you did a beautiful job.

Thanks so much, Jane, Gaylynn, Sadami and Sherry. I am in a funk right now - perhaps because I just don't have the excitement back in my little art room that I had in the workshop!! Need to create my own excitement and determination and time commitment and not just let things slide. But letting things slide usually means I'm losing momentum and not producing quality stuff (in my opinion). What the heck, I go through this at least once a year...

You do what you do. That's why your paintings look like yours and not someone else's. So relax and enjoy the ride, i say.

On another note, Davida had put the idea of collagraphs in my head the other day and as i looked em up i found this crows printing clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-3PeiR5zGY&feature=related and straight away thought of you. May be of interest?

Thanks, Harry. You're right - I'm me and I can't be anyone else (who was it said Be yourself; everyone else is taken??). I need to just work through it and get back in the saddle - hearing the crows each morning and evening, perhaps a visit would cheer me up! I'll check out this YouTube vid :)
