STRIP TEASE, SECOND STAGE

Now, I imagine I'll get a lot of viewers who pop over due to the title of this post :)  But it's just a painting, folks, sorry to disappoint! ha ha

Worked more on this one and I see it's almost done but that plate isn't right.  I'll have to look closely and carefully and slowly and get that ellipse closer to true.  Right now it's just not there.  The shadow shape needs a bit more work, too.

Ellipses can be tricky. Try drawing a box around it to get the proportions correct.

An interesting conposition and the blue of the plate is lovely.

Your strip tease shows off "quite a pear.......".

Thank you, Kerstin, for taking the time to comment on this painting.

Jeanette, thanks. Good idea - I'll put a piece of tracing paper over it and try getting it right. I know you don't like pear paintings but this one is a bit different :)

Carol, you are a hoot!! ha ha

A friend suggested drawing a flattened "X" and then connecting around the outside to get the elipse in proportion. It helped me. I like the title of this one Rhonda. Thanks for signing up for my artist trading card giveaway and since you like penguins, I hope you win it too.

Hi Rhonda, lots of good work in this wee pear watercolour painting. The perspective of the knife is good it looks very realistic doesn't it. The pear stands out well almost shining out on the plate and the peel is well painted too. Once again I like the colours you are using and how the washes work so well together. I especially like the background. Keep going!

Some nice washes in there but I tend to agree with you about the elipse. Best wishesfor a HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you and your family. Joannie

Thanks so much, Carol and Pam!

Linda, another good tip! I'll have to remember that one, too, as well as the box.

Thanks, Sherry, Ann, and Sadami :)

Thanks so much, Caroline and Katherine :)

Joanie, yes, if an ellipse is really off, it just looks wrong, doesn't it? ha ha This may be why I don't often do still lifes!!

Merry Christmas to you all. I've so enjoyed this year with you as viewers and followers and artists who I love to watch create!

Thanks, Jane. I think I may have roughed this one up too much and will have to do another - but it was an easy painting to do so second time might get that ellipse right :) It's been a great joy to get to know you through your artwork on your blog and the 100 washes blog - here's to a great 2012!

Harry, it's been a pleasure to "get to know you" through your artwork and postings - wishing you a wonderful 2012 with strength, joy, health, and love to keep you going!!
