NEVERMORE - FINISHED

This long narrow painting (watercolor on Arches 140# coldpress, 7.5" x 11") is done.
An early Halloween treat - or trick?

I did fix the eye so there are some lighter areas there - they aren't showing well in the photo so I did more after this was taken, so there is some life in the old bird!

Why is this unusual piece called NEVERMORE????? or have I misunderstood? You and your crow ideas are unique. Reminds me of being at Agraubie Falls in South Africa stretching out our hands with bird seed for them to come closer - but they were'nt crows. Thanks for the memory. Happy crow painting.

this really makes me smile:-)
great composition and again, the gesture of the crow brings the work to life-for some reason i am thinking of Eve passing the buck to a wary-yet curios-crow...

I really like the composition! The colors in the arm are great!

Joan, the bird is a raven - Quoth the raven, nevermore - as Poe said, And that's what I was thinking, dark, Poe-like stories for this one that bubbled up.

Jan, thanks. Interesting take on this one, too.

Christiane, thanks :)
