POLLYWOG PROGRESSION

Had to share with you the update:

Sunday, we had quite a few little ones with back legs - some becoming well developed while others were just beginning.

Sweetie noted that some of the frogs had well developed back legs and some bumps at the front of their bodies, where the front legs will pop out.

Then, overnight from Sunday night to Monday morning, we saw one that has both back and front legs!  Won't be long until they all will begin looking like this guy (or girl - perhaps it's Polly?) - and then that long tail will begin to be lost and they will start to look like real little froggies.

What fun!

Sweetie moved Polly (the one with back and front legs) to the small starter aquarium along with 2 friends.  Thinking it would be another week before Polly turned into a real froggie...

We were very surprised to find, this Tuesday morning, Polly looking very much like a little bitty froggie and hanging on the side of the aquarium!!

Well, time to get some pinhead crickets for her because, from now on, she'll be eating them!

Right now, the tail is almost absorbed and she is smaller than my little fingernail.

Look at those little toepads!  So cute!

Rhonda, my grandson Jacob just got a big kick out of seeing your post. He says "so cute, little frogs." I told him it was like my pinky nail and he couldn't believe it. Now he says he wants a tank with some of his own..........hmmm!

We've been seeing little bitty frogs or toads on our walks lately! Also one snake which we avoided and which didn't move until we tossed a stick toward it - yuk!

I hope you have a cover over this tank or you may find your house invaded with them soon :)

They are cute and remind me of when I used to catch tadpoles when I was a child and watch them morph into frogs.

What are you going to do with them when they're grown? Back to the stream?

Sooooo cute!!! But if she's so little won't a criquet be too much of a feast? lovelylovelylovely, I want to hug her
...but I better won't :)

Rhonda, I enjoyed your writing about the phases in the development of the little froggies.

Cute, for sure!

Awww. These are so cute, and good photography. Reminds me of when my kids were young--frogs in the house and that was okay. Then my son brought home a snake; evidently, neighborhood kids voted me "most likely mom to adopt a snake." We returned him to the wild.

Carol, hope you can find some around for him - but they are a lot of work! ha ha

Vicki, yes, she's a cutie!

Deb, I'm not that fond of snakes - and I think they eat those little frogs, too!!

Jeanette, all covered up so they can't hop out in the night! Back to the wild when they get bigger and can fend for themselves - probably will place them around the pool or in the woods nearby.

She is tiny but the pinhead crickets are so small they look like little specks of dirt, Teresa, so she could eat them - we'll see if she eats soon.

Thanks, Linda, Susan and Hallie - glad you are enjoying the photos :) Hallie, I bet you were the coolest Mom, too!

Hi Rhonda,
Great photos of the kids. Hope you and Jerry can find good homes for each one.
But, enough about frogs. What really caught my eye was your elevating my words to "quote worthiness". What an honor.
When I noticed it, a huge smile spread across this old face. Now, fame is secured, all thanks to you.
Seriously though, it was fun to appear in the same area with Ellen!
Keep up the great work.
Sincerely,
Gary.

Gary, we'll let them grow enough to be able to fend in the wild and then let them go :) Glad you liked the quote saved - when you wrote that the other day, it stuck with me!
