LOOKING CROW

I know, a strange name.  A title either comes to me immediately, or not at all.  She's just looking - perhaps thinking of flying out that window into the light of a sunny day?

I consider this one finished and will spray seal it with acrylic fixative (because it's on YUPO - 20" x 26") and call it done.

You certainly are painting your recent crows at a step above. Your hard work is paying off in some excellent paintings.

I like it. Great textures. I must try that Yupo. Only just looked it up the other day. It's mentioned often out there--like a rite of passage or something. Is it really that good? Doesn't wrinkle under watercolor does it? By the way, if you called it a Raven you might draw some righteous Baltimore attention. Just a thought. Your friend, Bill

This is excellent, Rhonda! The textures on the wall are superb and I love the variation of colors on the crow! Really well done!

Another fantastic crow...your Trademark I should say. I wonder if Yupo is available in Italy, interesting to try.

Thank you so much, Vicki. Your comment made me smile - I'm hoping I'm growing and it's showing in my latest paintings.

Bill, YUPO is a strange thing but if you let yourself go, you'll enjoy it. I've heard it will last forever (there is NO soaking up of the paint; it just sits on the top until it dries so easy on the water mix to pigment ratio). I've also heard it warps in the sun = stretches. For me, it's a fun thing to play with but maybe not for my important pieces. It could be a raven as well as a crow but I don't have the affinity to ravens as much as crows.

Thank you, SKIZO!

Christiane, thanks so much for your most generous comments on this one :)

Thank you, Asit and Irina :)

Jane, perhaps YUPO is not but there is something in the UK another artist uses that is the same - Joan Sandford-Cook (check out her blog on my sidebar and you'll see what she uses). If it's available in the UK, it might be available there?

Bill, I just thought of this title: Raven's Decision. Might use it instead of Looking Crow (which seems pretty lame).

Another great crow. You're on a roll with these lately! And great on the sale too, congrats!

If you like Yupo, you may like TerraSkin too, its very similar but made of stone instead of paper.

This is another one of my favs, Rhonda. Your hard work studying and learning is showing up your latest works. Nicely done!
