MINERVA'S DAUGHTER - FINISHED

Here she is, the pretty lady of the sea, Minerva's Daughter.

Now on to more portraits - I still am not getting Alaina's the way I want it - so more practice is needed...or more manipulation...or maybe a different photo that shows some shadows and sunlight.

Glad you like it, Deb. I'm back to portraits now...and something else.

And I really like Minerva also!

Very art nouveau! I love the lines in the piece and the curves.

Portraits are a challenge I agree and practice is the only thing that gets you there. You're right that a reference with some strong shadow can give you something with more substance to work from.

She's one luscious girl that Minerva - beautiful!

Sorry to hear about George. We used to be inundated with green tree frogs every wet season - especially the toilet in the middle of the night!

Love all the work you have done on Allaina and was very sad about George - such a gloriously coloured specimen. All ours are greys and greens with black splodges.
As for Minverva - you have found a beautiful technique with great result.
Wish I could be brave about portraiture - when I have a few spare years I'll try to tackle them!!!

Thanks, Vicki and Christiane. Glad you like the finished piece.

Jeannette - better photos definitely give you an edge to start with!

Thanks, Cindy. George was purchased by one of Jerry's students at a pet store - originally from Central/South America but he was comfortable here after we "adopted" him.

Joan, thanks! I can't imagine you not being brave about everything so I imagine you'll add portraits to your tool kit someday soon :)

Thanks, Ann :) I have to pop over and see what you're doing - I've been lax at visiting or I just visit and don't post lately.

Thanks, Lisa (and for your sympathies about Georgie).
