DEX NO. 10 WITH COLLAGE BITS

Taking a cue from Myrna, I first drew the figure onto the paper, then collaged bits on top of that and redrew using just paint and a brush, trying to get the shapes to show a figure. Nothing much more. I like this one. The collage bits give it an extra dimension - make it look more finished and thought out.

I returned to the full figure because I didn't really want to work with just a portrait (and a badly done one, at that) from No. 9.

I'm really enjoying these 'variations on a theme', it's a great creative workout and really shows your imaginative process.

You are just amazing in your ability to work with something over and over again and yet make it fresh and different.

It's always so interesting to see collage/mixed media work. Gives us a little insight to thought processes.

Am really looking forward to seeing how the Deck painting progresses also.

Cheers,

Cindy

Thanks, Lisa, SKIZO, Christiane and Vicki, for commenting on this one. I like it but haven't a clue where it came from!

Raul, thanks for stopping by and commenting :) I have a dear friend in Madrid. Check out her site at Lost in Wonder.

Cindy, I wish I could say I thought about this more but I drew it and then just pulled out bits of paper I had and tore them in pieces - glued them down here and there. I didn't consciously have a plan but looking at it, I think I instinctively placed the designs in good areas! Maybe something is finally sinking in about design and composition that is coming out without lots of thought.

Collage is one of my favorite categories in paintings. I really love to understand what a collage is trying to tell us.

Darned interesting - I have enjoyed reviewing all of your past variations too. I think this one is very adventurous! (More than I have ever been, I think.) I have a drawer full of stuff I've been collecting - all kinds of garbage - to eventually use in a collage or assemblage. But haven't had the nerve yet. Myrna is amazing, isn't she?

Dan, thanks for stopping by and commenting. I enjoyed my brief visit to your blog - you are very talented and creative! I'll definitely put you on the sidebar roll so I return to visit again. Yes, Myrna is the Queen of Experimentation - and she's so brave when it comes to just doing it and seeing what happens :)
