LOUISIANA SHORELINE PAINTING

I did get a bit more done on this painting. Slowly but surely...

And here are some closer views of the ibis and the cleanup worker...

Now just need to work on the little cattle egret at the bottom and I'll be done.
If you are in the Greater Cincinnati area this weekend, don't forget that it's Summerfair!!! Starts tonight and runs through Sunday - lots of artists showing their work and lots of food to eat - what more could you ask for (except for no thunderstorms like they are predicting). I hope I get to go on Sunday.

Good job, Rhonda! You managed to make the ibis' dejected look tell it all.
What a great use of complementary colors.

This painting definitely tells a story, good job! Seems every year I'm gone during Summerfair - have fun without me!

What a fascinating start to your special painting, Rhonda.
Wish I could come to your summer fair!

Thanks so much, Vicki, Christiane, Suzanne, Deb, and Gillian. Sorry I'm not as prompt to comment/reply - just got a laptop with Windows 7 on it and it's like learning computer stuff all over again - nothing like Windows XP so it's a tough road. And I'm trying to learn Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 at the same time - double punishment and time spent trying to figure out things no one tells you!! I'd rather be painting :)
Deb, it may rain out SummerFair this year with all the storms predicted and one coming our way now...I hope I get to see it tomorrow.

Inspirational - wonderful composition and colours and, of course, bringing home the tragedy to us here in England so far away.

It's coming along beautifully. It's so tragic what is happening to the beautiful waters and the creatures that are suffering break my heart.

We see it every night on the news, but on Friday they showed the birds and animals that are stuck fast in the oily mud, and who can't even raise their heads - it makes you want to cry.

Here's hoping that a long term solution can be found soon to alleviate that misery.

Thanks so much, Joan and Cindy. I don't think we were supposed to put anything about the BP cleanup but I just couldn't ignore that part of it - but I hope I put a positive spin on it...I see it as the humans who are trying to help overlooking the wildlife. It does make me cry when I see the struggle for the wildlife and the fishermen and women.

This is looking so good Rhonda - can feel your involvement in the subject.. the cleanup workers are these poor creatures only hope at the moment I should think, and I like how you've painted this one, almost angelic with arms outstretched.

Thank you, Sue! I like your work for the Gulf challenge, too, and will return to your blog when I have more time.
