WEEKEND WORKSHOP WITH DEB WARD

I'm signed up for a weekend workshop with Deb Ward. Saturday and Sunday - both days start at 10 am and end around 4 pm - I'll be learning more about fluid acrylics and doing two paintings - one on 300# watercolor paper and one on watercolor board. I'm looking forward to it and will try to remember to take my camera for photos to post here when I've decompressed (probably not until Sunday evening).

I haven't used my fluid acrylics, only doing 2 paintings with them (one in Sandy's class using her photo/composition), and this will get me ready for the Nick Simmons workshop I'm signed up for in August (hosted by Sandy Maudlin). I only have a few colors and ordered more but not sure they'll get here in time (they didn't come in time since they didn't arrive by UPS by Friday evening). Oh, well. I should be able to make my colors from what I have right now (ordered after watching Nick's DVD and checking out the colors he used then).

Yeah, I'll warm up with the fluid acrylics this weekend and play with them a bit at home and then be ready for Nick, who'll put me through my paces, I'm sure! I do have some photos from today but will download everything later.

I have just thrown a little pout fit because I want to be there and take the workshop too. Deb is such a sharing artist that I would love to take her workshop but I know that you will share your learning experience with those of us that can't attend. Have a wonderful time! And you get to take Nick's workshop too - I feel another fit coming on.......

Fluid acrylics are pretty much a mystery to me. I did buy an "intro" set by DiVinci after I met and had breakfast with Deb last spring. But using them is another thing. Lucky you!!!

Now, Vicki, don't pout! Next time Deb gives a workshop that I can attend, you get here, stay with me, and we'll go together! I'm afraid Nick's workshop is filled but he'll return as long as the need is here...so maybe another time? He teaches all over...so check his webpage and see if he's close to you at any time.
Ginny, the fluids are used just like you use your watercolors - lots of water, a little pigment goes a long way, and wet-in-wet so you don't get hard edges before you want them. Try them!
