THEY'RE BACK: JEALOUSY

Did you think I had finished with crows? Not yet!

This one is on 1/2 sheet size yupo "paper" and is watercolor only - so far. It's just a beginning idea, more than anything else.

I'm calling it "Jealousy"
and I want to get more greens in there
and my main idea is the real crow jealous of the sculptured/fake crow -
or maybe the other way around?
I'll be letting this one stew for a while so I can work out what I want, where, etc. I know the rule of having only 2 subjects - but sometimes you want that tension of just 2, yes? I'm going to work that "pedestal" for the sculptured crow, too.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yep. I see you are still in your crow period. We don't have crows here but their cousins, Ravens[a lot larger] and magpies abound. Both are pretty cool birds.
Paint on.

Hey, Gary! Yep, still crowing :) I like magpies and ravens, too (have only seen magpies in Wales and ravens in the northwest US and British Columbia - what a loud bird and so big!). Not sure when this "phase" will end...if ever.

I am glad to see that you are continuing on your crow journey.

Hey Rhonda we seem to have similar thoughts from time to time. I created a sheep work (was posted some month's back) with ceramic ones looking out a window jealous of the freedom of their cousins in the field outsite. !! Look foward to see how these crows progress. I think its great to break the rules now and then and these fellows seem to be confronting each other in battle with no need for a third or more.

Thanks, Vicki, glad you aren't tired of them - yet :)
Joan, I remember that painting and I liked it - maybe I kept that in the back of my mind...we all influence each other, don't we? I saw a few crows and ravens on other blogs after I began this series...the same when I began my hearts. Everything goes around!

Gary, we have ravens here on the AZ desert, also. I call them "National Park birds" because they are always hanging around the parking lots in parks, waiting for handouts from the visitors or dropped snacks on the pavement. At the Grand Canyon they are just huge!

Rhonda, I would be happy if you never stop your crow series because you are so imaginative. We could be in store for entire generations of crow paintings, telling their stories!

I am certainly not tired of your crows either. I love them...I keep waiting with anticipation to see what else you will come up with in this lovely series.
In this one, I love the concept and the look on the real crow- puzzled? stunned? Are those eyes really green...with envy?

I like it a lot, Rhonda--it has a "designy" quality, like an illustration, and is just so pleasing to look at--the enigma of the crows adds to it!

Thanks so much, Susan, Christiane and Laura - glad you aren't tired of them - they do seem to be going in all directions. Have one more in the works and this one finished to show next...
