WATCHING - BEGINNING

While the second crow painting simmers, I've begun a third. Yep, it's official, I've got crows on the brain - even dreaming about them now.

Here's a start - going to use some neat shapes in this one, too, if you can see the pencil marks.

Close-up of the 2 on the left to show I've used some misket in these and gone really dark with the colors this time.

Oh goodie :) Love crows :)
When I was growing up, my Mom told me a saying about crows, She had no idea where it originated - sorry. It pertains to crows flying. If you see 1 crow - disappointment. (over the years of observing crows, I've noted a single crow flies very fast). 2 crows - happiness, 3 crows - a letter.

Do with this what you will. I've often thought of doing a calligraphic piece with this info but it's not happened yet :)

Hope the day went well. Two crows showed up in the backyard today. I asked them if they were from KY. Thought of you:-)

Like the texture in the wood - and will be watching to see how you will incorporate the background shapes.

Yep, I knew it--you're bird-brained like me! I'm so glad you've gone on with this series. They are wonderful!

Wherever did you get the idea of doing a crow series? Most unusual and I love the combination of geometric shapes in the background. The first completed one with them arguing has turned out magnificently with the third bird quietly in softer colours in the background looking on - maybe wondering if he needs to intercept before they get to blows!! What a narrative painter you have become.
The more recent works look as if they will develop just as interestingly. Clever girl!

You are on a roll with these crows. This one looks interesting so far. I'll keep watching to see how it develops.

I've screwed up mine, but that's ok. There's always another in the back of my head. :)

Wow! Your work is indeed going into a new direction.
The shapes that you have drawn in will work well with the rest of the painting - the circles are echoed in the roundness of the birds' heads and even in part of the post; the triangular shapes go with the pointed beaks and the pointed end of the railing....
I am really looking forward to finding out what colors you will use in those shapes.

This is a very nice series.

I'm enjoying this series, Rhonda!!

Heavy snow fall and the Crows "own it". No wee ones around with them sitting a top the bird feeder. swear one stuck a Rhonda pose. Wonderful work.

Ok, that last comment didn't come out quite right. What I really meant (as the crow flys) believe they have flown north and are strike a pose from one of these works! (am eating crow right now Rhonda)....
remind me to stop posting after 9pm.

Yes, Teresa, these wanted to go almost black (using no black pigment but mixing) from the start - they said: Go for it, you scaredy cat!!
Thanks, Gillian, I appreciate your watching and commenting.
Pam, I've become a crow fanatic lately :)
Oh, yes, Sandy, I've seen the crows when it's been a good day but a rough day and no crows around anywhere...hmmm...
Thanks, Deb and Elizabeth - I'll get back to these soon as I feel rested and back to normal.
Joan, only the crows know why these are coming into my mind this way - I'll have to ask them :)
Jeanette, your crow is NOT messed up - love it!
Thanks, Christiane :) I will be as surprised as you about the colors to come, I'm sure :)
Thanks so much, Chris and Mary Sonya (after 9 is fine with me - I got the gist of the idea).
I hope to get back to the crows soon.
