HELP WITH A QUICK VOTE, PLEASE

Thursday afternoon a painting friend came over and my wonderful husband took photos of her paintings - 3 she wants to put into the Cincinnati Art Club Viewpoint show coming up and 3 she just wanted photos of. So...he did that, cropped and chose the best and created a few CDs for her for her entry and for her own use. She seemed shocked when I said I wasn't planning to enter to juried competition. I never have. Maybe I should. She looked at 1/2 dozen of my paintings and chose these 3:

1) A Frisson of Flamingos

2) Singing the Blues

3) Summer Girl

Then I asked Jerry his favorites of the 1/2 dozen and he chose Summer Girl
and

4) A Not-Pink Flamingo

So! How does one choose? I just want to enter 1 or maybe 2.

Which ONE would you vote for as the best image - the most likely to get into the show?

If you take a moment to let me know, I may come up with a consensus...or not! ha ha Just type in the NUMBER of the one you think is the best image, please. And thanks so much. I have this weekend to decide which one and if I am going to enter. The show is hosted by the Cincinnati Art Club (mostly oil, acrylic, and pastel paintings get in but a few watercolors do get in and even win prizes). And the judge (just one) is an oil portraitist.

And just because this is MY favorite:

5) Am I Blue

Okay Girl...I choose numbers three and five. That almost abstract, yet realistic (does that make any sense?) blue flower is a fav and I cannot resist that blond-haired little girl. They are all great, and would make very good entries, but these two are my favorites.

Love them all. Would go with either 1 or 5. Sorry...it is too hard to decide which one I prefer:-)

I vote for Number 1, for sure! Best of luck in the show - your work is great!

1 & 5
You definitely should enter! Why not?

I have no idea about what judges think but my favorites are 4 & 5. I do think that you should enter no matter which ones you choose.

Oh enter most definitely! Decisions, decisions. I hate making choices and had to do so recently for a submission for an art bank. It took me forever!

These are all wonderful pieces but those two blue flower macros....oh yeah....I'd go with those and if I had to choose just one, the last #5.

Good luck with it! You're a shoe in.

I like #4 best. However, if the single judge is an oil portraitist, a watercolor painting probably doesn't stand much of a chance. Also, judges seem to prefer larger pieces over smaller. But good luck!

They're all beautiful. But I say #1 and #5. Good luck!

Thank you, thank you all for taking the time to look and vote on your favorite painting of the bunch! Looks like No. 5 is the clear winner with No. 1 after that. I will put the winner and the runner-up on the CD to mail in Monday morning :)

You're not "late" Cathy - I'll keep checking this until Sunday evening when I'll take the final vote but it looks like No. 5 is the winner for now :) Thanks!

Deb and debco, with your votes No. 5 is still the winner by double that any other painting got so it definitely will be one sent in. Thanks for the well wishes - keep those fingers crossed!

Thanks, Cindi. The votes are in and the CD is in the envelope with everything else, ready to mail this morning.

what about the fruit piece posted below, and that great flower you did recently with all of the greens?

Nick said...

you already did it, scratch my vote, sorry! (or keep it for next time) Good luck, it's always a matter of luck.

Thanks, Nick. The fruit piece wasn't from one of my photos so can't use that in a juried show - but I'm glad to know the ones you liked. Maybe that yellow lotus flower(which I think is what you mean about the one with the greens - I remember you commenting on it when I posted it) will be the next one I enter in something. And you're right, it's a matter of luck in a lot of ways, especially when there is only one judge!
