THE SELF-PORTRAIT YOU WANTED

Using the photo most of you wanted me to paint, I did this on 1/4 sheet Fabriano Artistico 140# coldpress and transparent watercolors only (I was going to use just 2 colors: Ultramarine Turquoise and Pyrrol Orange but ended up using Raw Sienna in the skintones and I think the UT had some other blues in it seeing how it separated that way in the bowler).

My sweetie says it looks like me but he doesn't like the whites in the face - which is what I was proudest of!
Well, what can I say - he's a photographer, not a painter.

Rhonda, this is really great! I like it, whites and all. The blue and orange is wonderful together.

LOVE your portrait. Delightfully like you, too. UT does separate and granulate if not overworked:-D. It's a mix of Phthalo Green and French Ultramarine. WONDERFUL painting! Congrats!

I love it Rhonda. What a daring duo you chose for your palette. the way the green in the hat runs down into your hair is marvelous.

I think this is great, Rhonda! I love the whites in your face. The complementary blue/green color scheme is wonderful.

Oh! well done. A glorious result full of light and colour. Love the way you put yourself in the corner and cropped the right arm.

A wonderful self-portrait, Rhonda - your personality (well, what I know of it) just shines out.

Thank you thank you all for your comments on this one. I'm pleased that you all like it because I was pleased with it, too. And believe me, I put it off for quite a while, feeling nervous about doing it and messing it up, etc. And then when I finally began, I spent less than an hour on it and it's done! ha ha Sometimes the starting is the hardest part :)

Rhonda...I'm getting caught up on your blog and am so sorry I missed this painting! I was so hoping you would choose this view for your self-portrait, I voted for it way back when. It is so like your personality, it shines through just like the whites in the face! I like this a lot.

Thanks Susan - are you back home now from your gypsy wanderings?

Nope! We still be gypsies, for another week anyway. We will be home for two weeks and then gone for another week...back up here for the fall colors! This is the life.
