A FRISSON OF FLAMINGOS - FINISHED!

I finished this (I think it's finished) in Sandy's class Thursday but hadn't had a moment to take a photo and size and upload it until now.

Wat do you think? More to do? Anything to change that I don't see yet?

This is awesome, Rhonda. Your light on the birds and in the water is just right and the way you have painted the water is riveting. Needless to say, the colors are lucious.

Rhonda,

I like this painting, I like when paintings have a mixture of loose and real mixed together, I like abstract paintings and I also like realism so when its mixed nicely on the canvas its the best of both worlds.

I also like that you have 5 flamingoes I have found odd numbers of shapes work well on paintings.

AND Thanks again for sharing the spotlight.

Sincerely Paul

Rhonda...I love the postures on these birds, their placement leads the eye through the painting happily! Another great Flamingo painting from you, you are getting very good at them.

Thanks, Barb and Paul. I am glad I didn't overwork the water - I would have if I hadn't been in class and got comments from the others about it.
Ann, Suzanne (good to see you!!), and Susan - thanks so much. Glad you like this. I'm wondering if I should try just one more?? ha ha

Thanks, Chris! You know all about bold, saturated color :) Glad you're enjoying your trip.

I wouldn't change anything, and I like the grouping - always the trickiest part of this kind of pic. Love the two connected, they HAD to be!

Thanks, Nick! I am pleased that the composition worked as I created that myself from 3 separate photos :) Now on to something else. I am sooo far behind in my fave blogs that I haven't had a chance to see your's lately but will try to catch up this weekend as I know you posted a new Kanji-inspired painting.

It is perfect in every way. I love the light on the birds' backs, and at the top of the page--there's a wonderful diffusion of light and dark and ares ... and the staggered arrangement of the flamingoes is so pleasing!

Thank you so much, Laura! I'm so please people like the composition because that is my own made from a couple or three photos - so maybe I am learning something after 7 years of study/practice :)
