Starts but no Finishes

Starting things and then losing interest - or a feeling of being able to finish?

This one is on a block of Arches 140# rough paper my friend, Jane W., gave me.

And this one is on my last 1/4 sheet of Arches 140# cold press paper. I have to order more paper soon.

From a photo Jerry took from inside a covered bridge, looking out at the Ohio farmlands.
And, of course, there's still the blue-tailed skink which hasn't seen paint yet.
Hey, I guess I'll have plenty to do in December if I have all these unfinished paintings then.

I like the looks of these and especially the tunnel. Maybe you can just leave the tunnel as a study and work up something separate. There's something about particular unfinished work that's extremely attractive. The freshness and directness of stroke and presentation.

Oh, happy day, huh?

Not much more needed on either one Rhonda, IMHO. Just a bit of modeling on the flowers? I also like the tunnel painting a lot. You caught the look of being inside with the light coming through the boards. Perhaps softening a few of the harder edges of the darker background trees? I understand about the "losing interest" but awhile away from the painting and it will all come back. Really, it will

Thanks, Suzanne and Ann :) Yes, Suzanne, a happy day!!! Thanks for your comment on the Through the Bridge painting.
Ann, I want to do the sky with clouds above the trees/farm houses - I still haven't done that and that's really what is cool about the photo Jerry took. So I will try that. And there is still misket around the edges of the opening, etc. so have to take that off. But now I have another started - a portrait begun in class and worked on for just 2 hours before leaving Sandy's yesterday! Whew! I think I'm just going to call myself The Starter Painter :) hee hee
