Australian Gum Nuts - A Bit Darker + Misket Removed

I did go back and do a bit darker with the colors I had. I got a bit more texture and a bit of batik in a few places.

Then I removed the misket all over.

Next step = put misket back on all around the perimeter and in the whites of the nuts and stems before painting anything more. Have to slow down and look carefully and my black and white pics will help with that.

Slowing down is so hard, but worth it. Be sure to splatter some miskit specks in the nuts for sparkle later.

You need a lot of patience for working with a masking fluid. Alas, I lack that wonderful trait, and I think I'd go nuts if I tried it. But - y'know, I may force myself to do something in this technique, as a tribute to shock therapy :-)

I had to stop yesterday because I knew I was working too quickly and nothing was turning out right on the gum nuts. So let it be for a while. Patience is something I soooo need to work on and I have really been working on it for 5 years BUT I guess it's going to take another 5!!
