Fem - More Refining

Adding color, trying to decide how I want the body to look - more or less realistic in color? Pale? Darker? Hmmmm... That's the good thing about painting on yupo - you can always change your mind. I did have to stop and let areas dry because I was getting too rushed and painting next to wet paint which ran and mingled - which wasn't what I wanted. So this is where it stands right now. I'll work more on her tomorrow. As I see it, I've gotten carried away with too many colors in the shapes around her - I need to integrate those better next go-round. That color under her head I like a lot - may make some changes to put more of that around her (it's a mix of Ultramarine Turquoise and Indanthrone Blue).

Good call about the colors around her - especially the pink shapes. I really like the blue. Looking forward to seeing her framed.

How about that same color of blue (you of "blues are best" fame!) under her bottom and legs? I am wondering about that yellow band beneath that same cushion...with its color and the markings it looks somewhat (at this distance) like a tape measure? You might want to check that out...it might be just me, though. Put some more of those whites back on the high points of her body, those were cool!

I'm thinking of that blue under her head going under her body, too.
Susan, I was thinking the quin gold "bar" looked like a gold piece on a sofa or something - not a tape measure! haha
The body will be more modelled with gouache tinted with some color, I think, in order to get the darks and lights.

I love the colours you're using for this Rhonda! She's coming together sooooo nicely. You make me want to try yupo.

I like the way you are using the cool colors to give more emphasis to the warm tones of the figure. That blue is delicious, almost like a navy with zing.

Thanks so much, Susan, Deb and Ann, for your comments. Susan, you didn't mis-speak :) It just threw me that you saw a tape measure and I saw a gold surround on the "sofa" she was lying on. Now that I've had some time away from it and I go back, I can see in the online version where it does look a bit like a yellow tape measure! It doesn't look that way in real life, though - I hope! I haven't touched it since last posting and not even going into my art room for the last few days - just needed a break I guess.
