Pointillistic Pots

Started - from the drawing - and finished - to the finished painting - today in class. This is on 1/4 sheet of Arches 300# coldpress paper and mostly drybrushed the horizontal "dots"on. The required elements were: 1) Directional 2) Horizontal and 3) Lunar Red Rock + Sap Green.

Trying for optical blending. What do you think?

Wow, I like the tectural aspects of this; it is sort of like the older objects are looking their vintage more with the pontillism. This is better than the first one IMHO and the objects look very harmonious.

Nice one!

Absolutely delicious color! And the 'dots' add great texture. Nice.
I did a little demo over on my blog, showing how I paint my trees...come on over and take a look!

Thanks so much, Susan, Tracy and Melanie, for your comments on this one. It's not my cup of tea but Sandy suggested doing it this way to get the strong horizontal look and I wanted to do drybrush and this was actually less tedious than traditional drybrush so...quick and easy, really. Tracy really knows how to do the optical blending - check out her site to see how she does her poplar trees!
