Mary's Painting of Me!

As my friend, Mary, said, "Turn about is fair play." So she painted me - and called is PixieRhonda from the expression on my face. She didn't try the glasses as they would have given her fits BUT this is her very first portrait and I think she did a fantastic job. It does look like me, minus the lines and wrinkles and other gifts of aging :)

Thanks, Mary!!!

And I got my latest The Artist's Magazine today and who is featured with a nice article and painting? Our own inspiration and challenge-inspiring Myrna Wacknov! If you get it, this article is titled "21 Artists Over 60" and it's about those who are still producing great artwork in their 60's like Myrna - and on into their 70's and 80's.

Check out Myrna's blog and join us in her monthly challenges (see sidebar for her site).

Myrna, you rock!!

Oh I love the colors she used in your hair! Tell congrats on her first portrait - she did capture a likeness...and the pixie-ness too!

Thanks, Rhonda. Very kind words. My 18 year old grandson will be very excited to hear I "rock"! Happy birthday...the best is yet to come.

Yeah, Tracy, I actually had those colors in my hair at the time - my hairdresser and I were playing a joke on my husband and streaked it with blues, reds, and yellow gels and sent me home that way - I loved it. He knew it wasn't permanent (I'm not that bold!) ha-ha I love what Mary's done on this - and each time I see it anew I say, "Hey, that's me!"
Well, you tell him I'm not the only one who thinks you rock!!! I'd like to see a full-length article about you and your work in there sometime soon.

I had a feature article in Watercolor Magic last October. 7 pages! It was called "Face Forward" They did a great job. Maybe someone has a back copy in there stash somewhere and can let you read the article. Thanks for your kind words.

Myrna, I did read that article (I get all the magazines, I think!) and that's what turned me on to your blog and your art site! I bet you got a lot of interest from that but I bet you'd get even more from other mags, too. The more publicity, the more exposure, the better since you teach and do workshops. Of course, you don't want to be too busy to paint and create.
