Sunday, December 16, 2007 - Red Boat in Wales

The fourth 3-color challenge painting. This one is on yupo and it was quick and easy. I hope you like it! Since this one was so quickly done, I've picked 3 more colors for another painting! I sure hope I'm not getting addicted to this?!?!

Anyway, the 3 colors this time are: 1) Rhodonite Genuine
2) Cobalt Violet Deep and 3) Permanent Green Light

It didn't take me long to pick a photo for this one - hollyhocks. The photo is by CharM at WetCanvas (http://www.wetcanvas.com) and is copyright free in their Image Resource Library. Since these 3 colors won't darken much at all, I may have to use Lunar Black mixed with the other colors to get a good dark. I won't do that unless I need it, though.

This bottom color is the Rhodonite Genuine again - the top color looks too red and it's not red - it's a beautiful girly pink.

I'm really enjoying watching you do these 3 color studies, and you've managed to do some pretty terrific paintings from them. I like this group of colors - perfect for a floral. Can't wait to see it.

Hanging out on my computer today with snow/ice/sleet/more snow outside.

Ooooh. I'm thinking 'summer' when I look at this painting. You make yupo look esy, too, and it is if you know what to do and what not to do. Great job.

Thanks, Michelle. Glad you are stopping by and are enjoying the outcome. Brrrr - too cold to be outside here but not much accumulation for us.
Sandy, of course I make it look easy - you taught me all the tricks!

You are making me dizzy with how quickly you are turning out these 3-color wonders! Congrats on doing this challenge, and producing such winners, also!

After preparing for and having art sales two weekends in a row, I now need to put my art room back in order so I can paint. I am starting a longterm project...preparing with a partner to take our show to new venues by the end of 2008. Big challenge! Big paintings! We'll see how long I can last with this.

Susan, sorry you're getting dizzy! ha-ha I'm taking a day off from painting today so everyone can catch their breath :) Best of luck on your new 2008 adventure - hope it works out very well for you. Just get in that RV and Have Paints Will Travel...
